Skin Boosters (including Profhilo)

Dr. Michael Aicken has been using hyaluronic acid gel (dermal filler) to subtly enhance patients’ features for over 14 years. He has taught his own technique to thousands of trainees from around the world, including a masterclass in skin boosters.

Rather than targeting specific problem areas, think of skin boosters as providing for your skin, a sprinkling of small improvements which give a combined overall effect of making you look “better rested”, “glowing”,  “healthy”, and “glowing”.

Profhilo quickly dominated the skin boosters market with its simple treatment protocol, its rapid onset of visible results, and its premium branding. Winning the injectable product of the year at this year’s Aesthetic Awards – again – the success of the brand speaks for itself. Now there are other skin boosters on the market, with equally impressive results. One such option is Seventy Hyal 2000.

Profhilo, skin boosters, seventy hyal

Profhilo is a stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid for treating skin laxity. Containing one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market (64 mg / 2 ml), it not only boosts and hydrates the skin but also remodels the ageing and sagging tissue. Profhilo does not contain BDDE. Whilst dermal filler restores lost volume and anti-wrinkle treatments act by reducing movement, this treatment improves skin quality by stimulating the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin giving both skin-plumping and skin-tightening effects. For all ages, Profhilo delivers great results as a treatment on its own or in combination with other aesthetic treatments we offer.

Seventy Hyal 2000 aims to improve the levels of hydration within the skin whilst simultaneously stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin. Seventy Hyal 2000 treats the physiological depletion of Hyaluronic Acid within skin via the infiltration of HA back into the dermis.
As well as delivering intensive hydration, Seventy Hyal 2000 offers one of the highest molecular weight HA formulations on the market currently. Seventy Hyal 2000 improves skin’s texture and laxity whilst adding gentle volume and lift. Seventy Hyal 2000 can re-fresh skin’s appearance for a long-term solution or can use before an event to create instant results and a subtle enhancement.

Dr. Aicken will tailor your treatment to suit your specific “problem areas” and the outcome you are looking to achieve. This is a product that on younger skin, the hydrating effect can offer a refreshed glow, and on ageing skin, it visibly plumps out fine lines and wrinkles. A very satisfying result.

How long do skin boosters last?

As with other anti-wrinkle injections, it’s advised to “top up” with Profhilo or Seventy Hyal 2000. The treatment protocol for Profhilo is one treatment, every 4 – 6 months, after an initial two treatments, one month apart. Results can be seen after a few days but the rejuvenation continues and plateaus around three weeks.

What areas can be treated?

The most common treatment areas include the face, neck, and décolletage (central chest.) Skin boosters can also be used on the backs of hands and on the knees – any areas on the body – where the fine lines can show the signs of ageing. More recently, Profhilo has brought out an equivalent product that can be used on the back of the arms or any other body part which could benefit from improvement to the fine texture of the skin. Again, other skin booster alternative brands are available.

Will it hurt?

An anaesthetic numbing cream will be applied to the area ahead of injecting. This will minimise discomfort. Additionally, as Dr Aicken has vast experience in injecting dermal filler, his injection technique will also limit discomfort.

What will it cost?

One syringe of Profhilo (2ml), £250. The second syringe purchased within 4-6 weeks is £200 (£450 in total for two). This can be for a second treatment of the same area or for a different area. For Seventy Hyal 2000, the pricing is one syringe (2ml), £230, and for the second syringe, £180 (a total of £410).

What’s the downtime?

There is very little downtime. Typically clients will see 10 small bumps at the injection sites and these will disappear normally within 4-6 hours. Sin booster results are typically seen gradually over the following three weeks as the body’s natural collagen and elastin production is stimulated.
