Marionette Lines (Corners of the Mouth)

Marionette lines are facial lines that occur with natural ageing. The wrinkles run vertically between the mouth and chin. The lines can start to appear as early as your 20s, and whilst anyone can get marionette lines, they may have genetic and lifestyle influences that can alter their appearance. For example, if you are a smoke/ex-smoker or spend lots of time in the sun you will generally be more prone to early signs of ageing.

One of the most effective aesthetic options for marionette lines is undoubtedly fillers. Dermal filler works by plumping up some of the lost volume and softening the severity of the lines. Marionette line filler is typically combined with other facial treatments such as anti-wrinkle toxin injections, or dermal filler in other areas such as the lips or cheeks, for optimum results.

What is involved in Marionette line treatment?

This treatment involves small injections of dermal filler in the creases of the lines to add volume and “plump” this area to eliminate the appearance of deep lines. This is often a great preventative treatment for looking after your skin too, using filler will prevent the lines from deepening.

How long does it last?

The dermal filler will last 6-12 months and results can be topped up as needed.

Will it hurt?

An anaesthetic numbing cream will be applied to the area ahead of injecting. This will minimise discomfort. However, the filler itself also contains lidocaine which will optimise comfort levels throughout. Additionally, as Dr Aicken has vast experience in injecting dermal filler, his injection technique will also limit discomfort.

What is the downtime?

As with all injections, it is possible that some slight bruising will occur afterward, along with some possible swelling. We ask that you try to refrain from touching the area directly after too, or going to sleep directly after. That being said, as treatments go, there is very little downtime, and after 12 hours makeup can be applied.

What will it cost?

Our dermal filler is £230 for 1ml and then £100 for every 1ml after that.
