Cheek Augmentation Using Dermal Filler

There are many benefits to cheek filler including improved facial contour, reduction of stubborn extended crow’s feet, treatment of nasolabial lines by lifting the tissue about them, and improvement in the jawline if it has been affected by sagging. Cheek filler can be combined with nasolabial filler, anti-wrinkle toxin, and jawline filler depending on the desired outcome.

There are various options when it comes to cheek augmentation; in terms of both injection technique AND product choice. Take a look at the technique Dr. Aicken has adopted when using Dermal Revolution (DEEP). The important thing to remember when delivering this treatment is that whilst usually hyaluronic acid gel is used to augment SOFT TISSUE, cheek filler involves augmentation of the bone- specifically the zygomatic arch. Some practitioners will augment anterior to the zygomatic arch but Dr. Aicken’s preference is to focus on the arch itself as a safer and more aesthetically pleasing option. The technique involves depositing dermal filler on the surface of the cheekbones.

Dr. Michael Aicken has been using hyaluronic acid gel (dermal filler) to enhance patients’ features for over 14 years. He has taught his own technique to thousands of trainees from around the world. Here you can see a video demonstrating his cheek augmentation technique.

Why cheek filler?

Clients of any age can benefit from cheek filler! Younger clients may benefit from the improved facial contour and older clients typically enjoy the skin tightening effects and the benefit for stubborn crow’s feet and sagging of the skin. Results are not gender-specific, during your consultation, Dr. Aicken will discuss with you your desired outcome.

How long does it last?

Unfortunately, cheek filler is never permanent, although it is fairly long-lasting and can be easily topped up. We would expect the cheek filler to last 6-9 months.

Will it hurt?

An anaesthetic numbing cream will be applied to the area ahead of injecting. This will minimise discomfort. However, the filler itself also contains lidocaine which will optimise comfort levels throughout. Additionally, as Dr. Aicken has vast experience in injecting dermal filler, his injection technique will also limit discomfort.

What is the downtime?

As with all injections, it is possible that some slight bruising will occur afterward, along with some possible swelling. We ask that you try to refrain from touching your cheeks directly after treatment, or going to sleep, resting on your cheeks directly afterward. That being said, as treatments go, there is very little downtime, and after 12 hours makeup can be applied.

What will it cost?

Our dermal filler is £230 for 1ml and then £100 for every 1ml after that.

Cheek augmentation typically requires either 0.5ml or 1ml bilaterally to achieve significant results. This treatment is usually with a DEEP dermal filler as these products are more viscous and will give a longer-lasting lift to the overlying soft tissue.
